Getting Ahead in a
Just-Gettin'-By World©

This distinctive 40-hour workshop series helps families
at-risk for homelessness:
  • identify the underlying causes of poverty,
  • increase financial literacy,
  • and design a personalized action plan for escaping poverty and achieving long-term self-sufficiency.

Getting Ahead participants like Rashane Favors, right, rely on caring mentors like Janifer Peters, left, for help adjusting to new paradigms.

Retired banker and volunteer
Getting Ahead facilitator Dick Stonich also co-facilitates our "Understanding the Dynamics of Poverty" training.
Covering a breadth of topics from goal setting strategies to the hidden rules of economic class, this program builds on clients' individual strengths and helps them identify and tap into resources within their families and the community at large to reach self-sufficiency.
"Co-investigating" course topics with participants, our facilitators help participants develop a greater understanding of life outside poverty. This program provides actual tools that help our clients understand methods and processes of achieving independence.
Getting Ahead helps HOPE empower clients to define their own destiny.
